My Experience As A Home Inspector
This chapter of my career includes a lifetime of being a “handyman” for friends and family, and a dozen or so years of experience as a residential maintenance technician and service manager. The knowledge I gained along the way lent itself to my success as a home inspector. Learning how things work in a residential setting, common issues, repairs, terminology, etc., and more specifically, inspecting a home for a “turn” (the process of making a home ready for the next tenant after a move-out) link directly to home inspections. I drew greatly from this knowledge, and more, to become a trusted professional in the industry.
Customer service has been ingrained in me since my first gas station job as a teenager, and I have always prided myself on good client relations. I gained a great deal of administrative and management experience along the way as well. It’s not just specific skills in your field that make you a professional – good business skills, honesty, ethics and a genuine concern for your clients are essential.
I joined the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors (InterNACHI) in 2014 as a student, and buckled down on the required classes. Later that year, I took the test and completed the other necessary requirements. I officially became a State of Florida Licensed Home Inspector in late 2014.
In 2015, I made the move from maintenance to inspections, beginning a relationship with a local home inspection firm which lasted for 7 years. Along the way, I gained more knowledge and experience, as well as a great many trusted colleagues and friends. One result of this is the real estate license I also hold, further adding to my understanding of what it takes to excel as a home inspector. Through successful home inspections numbering in four digits, I have worked hard to build a reputation as one of the most thorough and trusted inspectors in our area – a reputation I take pride in, and strive to maintain to this day.
